Tripura CM Biplab Kumar expresses concern over spread of “fake news”

Tripura: CM Biplab Kumar Dev on the day-long monsoon assembly session expressed his concerns about the spread of “fake news” by some of the media in the state. He said that despite the restrictions from the Supreme Court of India; “fake news” has been published, which caused panic among the people in the state.

“Due to this fake news and rumour-mongering people especially the COVID-19 patients moved back from getting admitted to the GB Pant COVID hospital at Agartala,” adding to this Deb said, “Many patients have in fact died and many fell seriously ill out of panic through series of published fake news items amid the pandemic which perhaps sin intolerable,” Tripura India quoted Dev as saying.

He ensured the people that the state government is pushing forward every possible way to provide better healthcare facilities to the Covid19 patients in the state, especially in the GB Pant Hospital, he said.

Biplab Dev criticizing the opposition said, “Despite the political parties being asked to abide by the norms and guidelines of COVID pandemic, it has been noticed that some have organised mass gathering without prior permission which perhaps has also got ground of increasing COVID positive cases in the state.”

He informed about the recent visit of the central medical team and said that violation of the covid19 norms has been the reason behind the spike in the positive cases at large.
