Imphal, August 22 2021: Going on the offensive but without taking names, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has claimed that certain elected leaders from the hill districts are out to shatter Manipur and target the State Government as they are aware that their chance of winning the next Assembly elections is literally low.
Addressing a felicitation ceremony of Union Minister of State Dr RK Ranjan at BJP State unit office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, the CM claimed that some politicians who have won election 5-6 terms from hill districts and hoarded wealth at Imphal and Delhi are putting in efforts to sink the incumbent Government.
These politicians know that their chances of winning the next Assembly polls are low as they haven’t done anything for the people, N Biren said that BJP will not tolerate any attempts that challenge the unity of the State and the country and will deal with it accordingly.
Appealing all to stay liberal, the Chief Minister said ‘we should all uphold the unity of Manipur’.
Saying that nothing worthwhile will be achieved when different communities start narrating their own version of history, the CM reminded that those who were exiled to Barapani for opposing the colonial rule of the British include two Nagas.
The CM also appealed to all stakeholders to unite in the face of any challenges that target the integrity of Manipur and the Nation as a whole.
Stressing the need to incorporate the forgotten history of Manipur in the school curriculum in making ‘our society better,’ the CM said that many Nagas fought to protect the sovereignty of the erstwhile Manipur kingdom against the British.
The CM also said that the State Government has renovated the area where the tricolour flag was hoisted for the first time, apart from making preparations to hoist the largest National flag in North East India at Manipur.
One Olympian park will also come up shortly, he added.
The CM further stated that appointing RK Ranjan as MoS for Education is fitting.
The purpose of appointing RK Ranjan as MoS for Education and External Affairs is to develop the education sector of North East India and to have a friendly relation with the neighbouring countries.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inducting five Parliamentarians from North East States as Union Ministers.
He also appealed to the people to take benefit of the many welfare schemes rolled out by the BJP led Government.
BJP State unit president A Sharda also attended the programme among others.
