SIVASAGAR: Sanjib Baruah, general secretary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Assam and Jorhat Assets’ recognized workers’ organization ONGC Purbanchal Employees’ Association (OPEA), was selected as chief coordinator of the All India ONGC recognized Trade Unions’ Coordination Committee (AIOTUCC). In a meeting of the AIOTUCC, held in presence of all the general secretaries of the All India recognized trade unions, at the conference hall of the OPEA in Sivasagar recently, Sanjib Baruah was assigned the responsibilities of the chief coordinator. The coordination committee meeting was attended by many influential leaders from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Tripura, Dehradun, Silchar and Kolkata.
Assuming the new responsibilities, Baruah, accompanied by other leaders of OPEA, held a discussion with Alka Mittal, Managing Director of ONGC, who was on a visit to Nazira. During the course of the discussion, in addition to resolving the various issues of the employees, regularization of the employment of temporary workers, to make the infrastructure of ONGC’ Assets and Basins more productive through the development of new technology connectivity were also discussed. The managing director assured that immediate action would be taken to resolve all the issues.
