NIA Brings Back Salai Founder Narengbam Samarjit To Imphal:

Imphal March 30, 2021: Yesterday 29 March evening the National Investigating Agency (NIA) has brought back the founder-director of Salai Group of Companies Mr. Narengbam Samarjit Singh to Imphal. He was arrested in Delhi on Thursday in relation with the “Manipur government-in-exile case”.

As he arrived at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal on Monday, the supporters of the self-proclaimed external-defence minister of Manipur State Council (MSC) shouted “Long Live Samarjit”, “Long Live Manipur,” at the airport complex.

The case related with the declaration of independence of Manipur from the Union of India and formation of Manipur State Council at London on October 29, 2019, by Samarjit Singh and Yambem Biren.

On Friday he was produced at court number 5 of Patiala Court, New Delhi at around 2 pm. The NIA sought transit remand for Samarjit to the court. Following the plea, the judge allowed till March 31 to take Samarjit to Manipur.

On March 23, the NIA filed a charge sheet against Yamben Biren and Narengbam Samarjit and their associates Narengbam Biswajit Singh, Elangbam Brojendro Singh and Akoijam Deepa Anand under the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
