Mizoram: MNF sought MLA Lalduhoma’s disqualification, ZPM backs

Mizoram Assembly has served a show-cause notice to the Independent MLA and the leader of opposition Lalduhoma(elected in 2018) on Thursday. It has created turmoil in the politics of the Mizoram.

The show-cause notice has been served on the basis of the complaints filed by the 12 ruling Mizo National Front(MNF) MLAs seeking his disqualification as a legislator for allegedly violating the Anti-Defection law.

The MNF MLAs alleged that independent MLA Lalduhoma has been involved in the Zoram People’s Movement(ZPM) party activities, which violates the para 2(2) of 10th schedule of the Indian Constitution by defecting to ZPM.

Lalduhoma reacting to the matter said that he has not violated any law as he has been maintaining his allegiance to the ZPM since its formation in 2017.

However, ZPM extended their support to the legislator and denied the allegations made by the MNF.
