Shillong: In a bid to get rid of the traffic congestion in the city, the Meghalaya government is mulling to revert back to the odd-even formula. According to reports, state transport minister Dasakhiat Lamare said that he would meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to discuss the issue. He further asserted that the state government has taken numerous steps to ease traffic congestion in the city by shifting major offices to the new Shillong area.
”Government has been working on various strategies that can be implemented to reduce traffic congestion,” he added. Notably, the lack of space is a major drawback and also the reason which restricts the Meghalaya government from constructing bridges, skywalks, and other initiatives within Shillong. Earlier, the Meghalaya government had implemented the odd-even rule in the city to ease the traffic jams.
