Meghalaya: Following COVID-19 protocols schools to reopen from Sept 21

Shillong Sept 19-2020: State Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui on Friday said that schools in Meghalaya which were closed since March this year due to nationwide lockdown, are likely to reopen from September 21.

”Schools will be open for students of class 9 to class 12 to meet teachers and to clear their doubts. However, there will be no regular classes or classroom sessions” added Rymbui.

As per the guidelines issued by the Education department, ‘regular’ classroom activities in schools, colleges, or other educational institutions will remain closed till September 30 across the state.

The notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs which emphasized on easing the restrictions in areas outside the containment zone across the country has also been taken into considerations.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter to give an overall COVID-19 update of the state saying, 95 individuals have been recovered from the virus as on Friday. Sangma mentioned that the total active cases are currently 1976. Positive cases from BSF and Armed Forces are 334 and other cases include 1642 COVID 19 positive patients. The total recovered cases are 2437.
