Imphal Sept 20-2020: Faridabad police have arrested two more state natives involved in lifting of vehicles from the National Capital Region (NCR) while two vehicle lifters including the one who posed as NIA officer arrested on September 9 from Faridabad were found involved in drug business too.

As per information shared by Faridabad police (Haryana) PRO Sube Singh, disclosures by Md Abung Mehtab and Kabir Ahmed led to the arrest of two more Manipuris involved in lifting of vehicles from Delhi/NCR.

Disclosing identity of the arrested individuals as Md Aksar and Aribam Gunanda, PRO Sube Singh informed that Aksar was arrested from his home while Gunanda was nabbed while trying to flee to Kolkata in a flight bound for the metro city.

The PRO further informed that Faridabad police came to know that Md Aksar and Aribam Gunanda used to purchase vehicles lifted by Abung Mehtab and Kabir.

Upon getting specific information that both are in Manipur, a team of Faridabad police came to Manipur and arrested Aksar from his home in coordination with Manipur police while Gunanda was arrested from a Kolkata bound flight after Airports Authority of India was contacted and briefly halted the flight.

According to PRO Sube Singh, vehicles lifted by Abung Mehtab and Kabir Ahmed from Delhi NCR were sold in Manipur and they got Rs 50,000 for that and they used fake NIA ID to avoid checking/arrest along Delhi-Imphal route and also used Aadhaar card to stay in hotels. After selling the lifted vehicles in Manipur, they came to Delhi on flight, he added.

Faridabad police also came to know about drug angle of Abung Mehtab and Kabir during final round of questioning and managed to recover drug (tablet) from their hideouts in Delhi, the PRO informed, adding that efforts are on to identify source of drug and suppliers.
