Manipur: Trio Arrested Trying to sell Covishield Vaccine in black market

IMPHAL: A commando team of Imphal West district police along with women personnel arrested three people who attempted to sell COVID-19 vaccine in the black market.

The arrested trio has beenidentified as Rose Shanglai (42) wife of Aphang Shanglai of Kamlang village in Kamjong district, Lorho Pulle (41) son of Lorho of Luwangsangbam Maning Leikai Aenon village and Yumnam Premila alias Inaotombi Devi (44) daughter of late Y Ibotombi Singh of Singj- amei Yumnam Leikai.

According to a police source, all three people were arrested by a team of Imphal West police commando along with women police personnel from Dewlahland area at about 3.30pm on Thursday. All the arrested people have confessed to selling Covishield vaccine. As per disclosure of Rose Shanglai, an unidentified person dropped the Covishield vaccines at her rented house at Dewlahland as per communication established between her and one Ajit from Kairang. As per disclosure of Premila and Pulle, it has also been known that both of them were to collect Covishield vaccines from Rose’s rented house and export the same to Myanmar.

The commando team also recovered 186 vials of S11 ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus vaccine (Recombinant) COVIDSHIELD 5ml-10 and three mobile handsets.

All the arrested people have been handed over to Imphal police station for further necessary action.
