Manipur Poll 2022: JD (U) brings out 28-point manifesto

Imphal, February 10 2022: With respect to the ensuing 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, JD-U today brought out a 28-point manifesto which is topped by repeal of AFSPA, enactment of a Constitutional safeguard for Manipur and protection of its territorial integrity and launching of an aggressive movement against ‘narco trade’ and drug trafficking.

The election manifesto was formally released at the party’s Keishamthong Hodam Leirak office today where JD-U National general secretary Afaque Ahmad Khan, National coordinator Anil Hegdre and State unit president Hangkhanpao Taithul were present.

Through its manifesto, the JD-U promises to do everything in its power to exert pressure upon the Centre for expediting the process of talks with the concerned stakeholders for an amicable, honourable and early solution related to insurgency in the State which shall result in a permanent solution.

It says that JD-U would address the issues of low capital formation, inadequate infrastructural facilities, compensation for geographical isolation, communication bottlenecks and industrialisation.

Some other points highlighted in the manifesto are skill development, transparency and good governance, empowerment of women, ADC election etc.

It also promises to take up necessary steps in order to transform Manipur into a food surplus State from a food dependent State.

Rural development, preservation and promotion of arts & culture and sports and fishery too figure in the manifesto.
