Manipur Governor, CM and others extend Independence Day wishes

Governor, Najma Heptulla has extended her heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Independence Day.

While mentioning that August 15 is celebrated as Independence Day to mark the occasion of the country gaining freedom in 1947, she also said, “On this day, we remember and pay homage to those leaders and their millions of followers who made sacrifices during the long freedom struggle.” During the last more than 70 years after independence, India has made great strides in all fields and is aiming to be in the comity of leading nations of the world.

“I sincerely urged all citizens to work together and bring emotional integrity and ensured that every part of the country is developed equally so that there is no sense of discrimination,” she added.

Meanwhile, CM, N. Biren Singh has also extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of the 73rd Independence Day of the country.

The CM, in his message, stated that after 200 years of foreign ruled, India became free on August 15, 1947. Our freedom was earned through the sweat and sacrifices of the great leaders of India’s struggle for freedom. Today, we remember them and the ideals they set before us to achieve in the days ahead. “Let us also celebrate this Independence Day by committing ourselves to create an atmosphere of love and mutual understanding and work for ensuring peace, progress and prosperity in the State and the country”, it said.

Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, stated that the nation is all geared up to celebrate the 73rd Independence Day celebration on August 15 throughout the country. In his message said that on August 15 1947, India got freedom from the British rule after long years of slavery and due to its importance, the day has been declared as the National and Gazette Holiday. He also said, “We the people of Manipur will also fervently participate in celebrating the day by paying tribute and remember all the freedom fighters that has contributed a lot and fought for independence of India”.

Public Works minister, Th. Biswajit Singh too extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of the 73rd Independence Day celebration on August 15. On this auspicious day let us recall and celebrate the bravery of our forefathers and their gift of freedom and once again wishing all a “Happy Independence Day”, it added.

Meantime, Social Welfare, minister, Nemcha Kipgen, extended her heartiest greetings and best wishes to all Indian on the auspicious occasion of 73rd Independence Day of India. In her message, Kipgen stated that Independence Day is a day of remembrance as well as of dedication. A day to remember all those great patriots whose sacrifices has made it possible for us today to enjoy the fruits of freedom.

Environment and Forest minister Th. Shyamkumar also extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of the Manipur on the occasion of the 73rd Independence Day. In his message, Shyamkumar stated that India attained freedom from the colonial rule on August 15, 1947 after years of struggle and supreme sacrifices made by our countrymen and the freedom fighters.
