Thoubal: Not only does the BJP led state government lack the capability to bring new development projects for the state, it could not even complete those projects that were already started by the preceding Congress government, said former chief minister Okram Ibobi on Sunday.
Ibobi was speaking as the chief guest at this month’s edition of the INC’s monthly mass enrolment programme which was hosted by Heirok Block Congress Committee at the Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex.
He further asserted that the present state government has also carried out a politics of vendetta by intentionally keeping on hold several projects which were initiated by the previous Congress government. He discredited the BJP leaders from Heirok AC for seizing their claim on establishment of Heirok Higher Secondary School and Engineering College as their projects, stating that all of them were started by the Congress government. Even though Heirok AC had a BJP minister, he was incapable of bringing any major project for the constituency, Ibobi stated and called upon the electorates of Heirok AC to teach the BJP a harsh lesson while showering their blessing on the Congress party.
The people are the only one who can decide the fate of Manipur, he said while dismissing the development claims made by the BJP with his counter-charge that what the latter did was destroy all the development the Congress had brought to the state during its 15 consecutive years in power.
Election observer for Manipur and veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh made a prediction that the N Biren government will no longer exist after the 2022 Assembly elections and the Narendra Modi government will also be uprooted from the Centre.
Multiple time representative of Heirok AC Moirangthem Okendra announced that 250 supporters of the BJP joined the Congress at today’s function and the overall new entrants to the Congress has reached 1250. He expressed his unreserved praises to the people for restoring their faith in the party.
The other party leaders who attended the function were the former Union Minister and AICC In-Charge Manipur, Bhakta Charan Das, National Convenor Social Media AICC, Pranav Vaccharajini, CWC Member and former Deputy CM Gaikhangam, MPCC President N. Loken, Congress MLAs and office bearers of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), leaders and workers.
