Imphal, Sept 28-2020: Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched the e-Challan and e-Payment system of the Transport Department at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister said that such a system is citizen friendly and will improve accountability and transparency, prevention of leakages, real time collection of fine/penalty amount.

The system would also reduce the workload and paper work of transport enforcement and Traffic Police, he said while appealing all to work collectively for better governance in the State.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also launched Dealer Point Registration System and Online Permit System for vehicles.

A documentary on the steps taken by the Transport Department during the pandemic was also screened during the function.

With the introduction of the newly launched systems, the fees for Smart card driving license and registration certificates for vehicles will be reduced from Rs 436 and Rs 643 respectively to Rs 200.

Minister for Education, S Rajen Singh; Minister for Transport, Vungzagin Valte, Addl Chief Secretary, MH Khan; Principal Secretary, P Vaiphei; officials of various banks, representatives of various vehicle dealers and others were present during the function.
