Manipur: kakching District Commando seized 502 grams of heroin

Imphal, May 27 2022: A team of Kakching district commando led by SI Robindro Brown arrested two persons identified as Mangmuanlian (30), son of Lunchinmang and Thangguanlian Zou (27), son of Nengchin Mang of Chakpikarong Ho Haika H village, with 502 grams of heroin from Sugnu Khongnang Makhong on Friday.

Speaking to media persons at his office, Kakching SP Shrey Vats informed that a team of Kakching district commando on frisking and checking duty at Sugnu Khongnang Makhong initially detained the two after they ignored the signal to stop and fled in a Royal Enfield bike (DL3S 01L 1372).On further checking of the individuals, 40 soap cases containing 502 grams of heroin were recovered from them, the SP said adding that both have been handed over to Sugnu police station.

The press conference was also attended by additional SP (ops) Binoy Chongtham, commando OC Inspector Md Abas Khan and SI Robindro Brown.

Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal West District police Commando and Singjamei Police apprehended two people with huge quantities of Clavitol-50 and Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules, which are classified as restricted drugs, during a frisking operation carried out in front of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur on Thursday.

The arrested people have been identified as Md Askar Husain (35) s/o Md Abdul Bari of Changamdabi, Imphal East District and Md Shahabuddin (42) s/o Md Nezamuddin of Thoubal Wangkhem.

According to a police report, the combined team was conducting frisking and checking operation in front of the Secondary around 8.50 pm Thursday, when a suspicious looking grey colour Eco Van (MN 06LB 9364), heading in from Lilong, was halted.

On checking, the team found two parcels, addressed to SKY King Courier Gopal Sarkar, Thangal Bazar opposite UBI Bank, MG Avenue from one Habbeb, Chennai.

The parcels were opened and 1500 strips of Clavitol-50 capsule and 1880 strips of Hydrochloride capsule IP 50 mg were found inside.

Upon questioning, the duo revealed that one Gopal Sarkar from Moreh Ward No 3 had instructed them to bring the two parcels from Sky King Courier.

Singjamei PS registered an FIR u/s 9-A/25-A/29 of ND&PS and arrested both Askar and Shahabuddin, in addition to seizing the drugs.

Meanwhile, Moreh police has apprehended Gopal Sarkar, who is the alleged owner of the consignment.
