17 crores Heroin Drug seized near Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, Moreh

Moreh, August 23 2022: A combined team of 5 Assam Rifles and State police seized heroin drug worth crores from area close to Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge in Moreh. The heroin drugs worth around Rs 16.30 crore in the international market were packed in 195 soap cases. They were seized from a location close Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge at around 2.15 am, today. Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge is built along Lokchao river in the Indo-Myanmar border in Moreh.

As per sources, the heroin drug was brought by a man from the Myanmar side in two gunny bags. The man fled towards the Myanmar side on seeing the security forces by abandoning the two bags.

The combined team, on checking, found 195 soap cases of heroin inside the gunny bags and it weighed around 8.15 kg (including the weight of the packaging material), added the sources.

The seized heroin has been handed over to Moreh police station.
