GUWAHATI: The former president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Ripun Bora was announced as the president of the All India Trinamool Congress – Assam unit. “The Chairperson is pleased to appoint Shri Ripun Bora (Ex-MP, Rajya Sabha & former Minister, Govt. of Assam) as the State President of AITC Assam unit with immediate effect,” the letter added.
Notably, the TMC’s national secretary Abhishek Banerjee had stated that party supremo Mamata Banerjee had a vision for the people of Assam with TMC at the forefront. The veteran Congress leader left the party recently to join the Trinamool Congress on April 17. Earlier, Bora had written in a letter addressed to the president of All India Congress Committee Sonia Gandhi, “Instead of fighting aggressively and unitedly to prevent BJP at this critical juncture of the country, the leader of this grand old Congress party at different levels are fighting each other for their vested interest.”
He had also alleged that a section of senior leaders from the party’s state unit had colluded with the principle opposition BJP and maintained secret understanding with the chief minister.
