Agartala/Sentinel Assam: The opposition CPI-M has the centre to reverse its decision to give over the operation of the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala to the Adani group.
The demand came just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Tuesday to inaugurate a new terminal building at the MBB airport.
”We condemn the decision of Modi government which is going to hand over the operation of MBB airport in Agartala to the Adani group,” CPI-M leader Manik Dey said.
He further asserted that handing over the airport to the Adani group is nothing but a betrayal to the people of Tripura.
”Using this public property now a private party will make profits,” he added.
The New Integrated Terminal Building worth Rs 438 crore has been built on a 0.03 square kilometre area in the southern end of the existing airport. It is expected to cater to 1,200 passengers at once with 20 check-in counters.
