CM Biren Urged the Public not to Elect Selfish MLAs

Imphal, October 16 2021: Chief Minister N Biren has urged the public not to elect selfish MLAs, who did not think or did anything for the state in the last four and half years but are only faking their love for the state at fag end of their five-year term.

The CM was attending a felicitation function of former president of Tangkhul Naga Long and retired IRS officer Hopingson Shimray of Phungyar assembly constituency, who has joined BJP, held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office, Nityaipat Chuthek on Saturday.

Hopingson Shimray joined BJP along with 12 members including NPF Phungyar unit working president, vice-president and general secretary.

In his address, Biren said that there are several MLAs, who remain idle without caring for the public and the state for the last four and half years of their term.

These MLAs come out to the public to fake their emotions and commitments only in the last six months to win the next election and these MLAs do not deserve re-election, he asserted.

Recalling that during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic in the state, farmers from hills brought vegetables for the people in the valley, CM Biren said that it helped in strengthening the hill-valley relationship.

He then appealed to the public not to fall prey to the trap laid by people with vested interest, who are trying to create unrest, enmity and violence.

The CM also called upon the people to safeguard the bond of brotherhood among the different communities and stand for unity, integrity, inclusive development and peace.

Urging the people of Ukhrul, Phungyar and Chingai assembly constituencies to support BJP candidates in the forthcoming election, he said that the party will not let the support of the public to go in vain.

Biren further said that he will visit Ukhrul district to participate in election campaign.

Kamjong has become the first district to get tap water connection in every household.

Roads in the district have been improved and as a result, the district is witnessing a new taste of development and better connectivity.

Two oxygen plants have been installed in Ukhrul district, he said.

He also spoke about the different initiatives taken up by the BJP government including introduction of PMHAY and CHMT cards which provide medical treatment assistance to poor families.

He also expressed happiness on NPF office bearers of Phungyar unit joining BJP and appealed to others to join BJP.

BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda said that the hill-valley unity has been strengthened under the BJP government.

BJP will never forget the farmers from hills who brought vegetables to the valley during the pandemic.

She appealed to the people of Ukhrul district to play major role in bringing development in Ukhrul and the state as well.

Assam cabinet minister and election coordinator for Manipur Ashok Singhal also hailed the Biren government in the state for bringing inclusive development and unity in the state, and expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in the 2022 election.
