Kakching, February 28 2022: Chief minister N Biren Singh has said that BJP government has been able to stop fake encounter killings and atrocities committed by security forces against innocent ci vilians which were prevalent during the time of previous Congress government.
The chief minister made this claim during a public meet organised in connection with the upcoming election at Hiyanglam MLA Dr Radheshyam Yumnam’s residence on Monday.
Addressing the gathering, N.Biren said that Manipur has more than 2000 years of written history and existed as a powerful independent nation in South East Asia With brave sons of the land including Paona Brajabashi sacrificing their lives for the land.
Descendants of brave sons of the land were tortured and killed without any reason till the time of the previous Congress government.
However, killings and torture of innocent civilians by security forces stopped since the coming of BJP government and there is healthy -relation between police and public at present and state police is becoming a role model for young citizens of the state, Biren said, adding that conferring best police station award to Nongpok Sekmai police station showcased improved public-police relation in the state.
According to CM Biren, he left Congress party around five years back as he knew during that time that the then Congress government will fall due to continued fake encounter killings and other illegal activities carried out by the then Congress leader.
He then urged the gathering to support BJP to bring peace and tranquillity in Manipur and also to enable people to live with dignity, On party’s prospect in the first phase election conducted on Monday, the chief minister said thatBJP would secure at least 30 seats in the election held for 38 assembly constituencies and party will form the next government.
CM N Biren Singh also addressed another public meeting held at Pangantabi public ground under Sugnu assembly constituency.
The public meet was held for BJP candidate of the constituency Mayanglambam Binod.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishem-ba Sanajaoba, BJP Kakching district president Usham Ibomcha, BJP Sugnu Mandal president Abujam Ibotombi, Mayanglambam Binod and others attended the meet.
