A three-wheeler heavy duty auto-rickshaw turns into COVID-19 sample collection booth in Tripura. The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) with Agartala Smart City has redesigned a three-wheeler auto rickshaw into mobile COVID-19 sample collection booth where medical staffs can safely collect swab samples without physical contact with patients, according to a report on AIR.
AMC has built the kiosk taking reference from Kerala model of testing coronavirus, where it is placed stationary in front of the hospitals, said Shailesh Kumar commissioner of AMC and CEO of Smart City.
The design includes a glass encasement which will ease the requirement of wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) while collecting swab samples from people. Meanwhile Shailesh Kumar claimed that this mobile testing vehicle us the first of its kind in the whole northeastern region.
AMC has also handed over the sample collection vehicle to the chief medical officer of west Tripura, according to the report.
Chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, while applauding the innovative step, said the people do not need to go to hospitals for sample testing. He added Tripura will able to conduct large number of tests in a short period of time, AIR reported.
