Assam: Floods hit Nagaon district, People take shelter in makeshift tents

Assam, Sept 28-2020: The State of Assam is facing a huge impact of flood with continuous rainfall for almost a week. Hundreds of houses in Nagaon district got flooded, forcing people to take shelter in makeshift tents on roadside.

The locals alleged the devastation to the opening of the Karbi Langpi Hydro Electric Project on September 24 after the heavy rainfall.

As per reports, floodwaters have washed away cattle and other livestocks of the people last night and have inundated farms completely.

This comes amid the state already struggling due to the COVID-19 lockdown. However, the locals had reportedly requested the government to speak to the authorities of the dam.
