Assam Floods: Flood-damage survey in Nalbari district

NALBARI: After the recent devastating floods in Nalbari district, the damage survey is continuing in full swing. 59 LAC MLA and minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and Nandita Garlosa participated in a review meet organized by the district administration on Monday. The flood situation in Nalbari district is now on the verge of normalization.

The government is currently conducting a damage survey in the district with the aim of providing financial assistance to the flood victims. Rupees 3,800 will be provided to the families in flood camps.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department and Nalbari District Parent Secretary Mukesh Chahu, District Deputy Commissioner Gitimoni Phukan, District Development Commissioner Moon Gogoi, Additional Commissioners and heads of all concerned departments.

Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah also tried to find out whether the people received adequate flood relief during the floods and warned all those involved in the distribution of flood relief not to be stingy in this regard. He stressed that the flood damage survey should be conducted with utmost caution and those who are eligible cannot be left without getting it and those who are not eligible cannot get it under any circumstances. He also said that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for any irregularities in the beneficiary identification process.
