Aromatic Black Rice Chak-hao will be available in retail outlets in Delhi

Imphal, August 23 2022: A mini truck loaded with two metric tons of aromatic black rice Chak-hao was flagged off for New Delhi from Sanjenthong today.

The product will be sold in SIMFED’s (Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation) retail outlets in Delhi.

The consignment of aromatic black rice locally known as Chak-hao was flagged off after Qseal Agritech Private Limited, New Delhi and Chak-hao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Limited, a farmer producer company signed a trade agreement yesterday.

Chak-hao

Qseal is a business partner of Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED Ltd), which is a service provider company of MOVCDNER.

Additional Agriculture Director said that SIMFED has agreed to procure 10 MT of black rice from Chak-hao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Limited this year.

Existing consignment of two metric tonnes of aromatic black rice Chak-hao would be taken to New Delhi by train from Dimapur. Senior consultant of SIMFED Ltd C Mohanty said that he is happy to work with the farmers in Manipur under MOVCDNER.

Saying that their objective is to popularise aromatic black rice and current consignment of 2 MT is only the first step, he added that SIMFED has many retail chains and networks in New Delhi.

SIMFED is planning to manufacture different value-added products from black rice, apart from branding it.
